Trucking and our economy

It hurts and makes me sad to think the condition of trucks and our economy. With nearly every phone call or answer when I work I hear almost every driver is looking for work, try their trucks, or ask how they are going to continue to pay its bills.

I had the conversation very unlucky again this morning with one of my sender. "Fuel is going down," he says, "since I still apply a fuel surcharge, maybe that's why your prices are higher. "ButOur prices are not higher than those of other carriers, our prices are higher than companies that transport fares low balling.

Companies that have not yet own the trucks and goods no idea what it costs to run over a truck, or seem to mind. Still draw the Commission and pay the bills, why not go on, as they are. In the process, but sees a field guide - not able to grow and help the economy to fail.

Trucking isprobably know one of the worst areas where prices have remained the same over the years. In 1976 I moved to steel for about $ 1.35 to $ 1.50 per mile. In 1988 I was offered, and it worked for about $ 1.50 per mile. In 2003, I sent the truck for about $ 1.50 per mile to stay - just competitive. Everything in life has value, except for increases in freight rates. Fortunately, that about the increasing rates because of the difficulty in finding truck started. The costs for fuel and insurancewas increased by about 140% and, finally, the realization of drivers that ran for less than what they were doing and refused to take cheap goods.

I looked at the prices increased by 35% and then began adding fuel surcharges the airlines. There was no hope for trucks and our economy. Fast forward five years. Now go down with fuel and people spend less, trucking is one of the most vulnerable. Today, with a failing economy, shippers and producers to do everythingable to keep costs down and remain in the economy.

Enter the broker. Explain this, if you will, but if you pay for a truck, transport companies and their invoices or to run a truck, consider some facts:

· Today, diesel is still running an average of $ 2.31 per mile
· Cost for tires twice a few years
Insurance · Prices are up 140%
· Cost of living has increased since the 70s.

If a driver was seriously $ 1.98 per mile, helddeadhead (empty miles) to less than 8% and was loaded all the time, can only be about $ 25,000 a year. Sounds like a lot to be out there 24 / 7? My facts come with 32 years experience, owner operator of over 1700 and are owned and operated several trucks.

Where are the agents with their charges? I heard that offer goods in less than a dollar per mile, unless the truck is. He told me that the drivers are good, what they do, but notauditors always good. Some of them are actually running for less than what they are doing. They were able to stay in business if they are left in the street, sent money home to their wives, and basically lived in their truck. Currently there is no money to send home and more drivers than ever losing their trucks.

Drivers can not beat the freight of the child or truck, we need to put a law into force, the people or to provide goods for less than minimum wage. We need to start orThe regulation of brokers and freight back to stop people from quoting, offering cheap goods from - we stand by or, as some drivers take the moving load of living, just to bring money into their car, not in the business, and therefore should not strengthen our economy and no one to move freight.

Even vehicles that should know better (as equity) are the brokerage. should find people who carried on the Internet, at least offer loadsMinimum wages may be paid by the driver. Even now they are spending less for brands trucks offered.

Watch the video to Good Morning America and ABC News on "Economics: Areas to watch:" http://www.abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=6617036 - have a face to these effects directly known as this process is low Balling or deletion of an area known. As bad as things are already, what will America finally off the market. Many reliable sources say, as much as 78% ofeverything we use is made by truck. So help our economy and trucking address this need now!
